Heavy is the keyword for the 92FS Brigadier. The slide is thicker than on the standard model, and the extra weight helps reduce recoil and adds durability. This one is new, with a 4.9 inch barrel and a 10-round magazine, chambered in 9mm Luger.

The wraparound Hogue soft rubber grip panels take up a good deal of recoil and give a secure hold. They are comfortable in larger hands, and they stay tacky when your palms sweat. Plenty of shooters keep a range log, and a pistol that is new to you is a good reason to start one. Read the manual before the first range trip, since controls differ even between pistols that look alike.

The action is double action first, then single action, with a decocker lowering the hammer. Beretta gave the 92 an open slide design that feeds many types of ammunition, and it holds a reputation for smooth operation.

The 10-round capacity suits states that limit magazines, but it also makes the pistol lighter to carry. Check your local rules before ordering. The pistol ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is completed there before you take it home.
