How buying a gun in Cape Girardeau works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Missouri law allows.
Missouri has no permit to purchase, no registration and no waiting period. At the dealer you show ID, complete ATF Form 4473 and pass a NICS check. Federal law sets 21 as the minimum age to buy a handgun from a dealer, and that applies to used and trade-in pistols too. State law preempts local purchase rules. Once the check clears, the dealer can release the pistol the same day.

Carrying a gun in Cape Girardeau County
Since January 1, 2017, Missouri residents 19 and older, or 18 and older in the military, who may lawfully possess a firearm can carry concealed without a permit. The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff still issues the concealed carry permit, which requires a firearms safety course of at least eight hours with live fire. The permit is honored in more states and opens some places that are closed to permitless carriers. Schools, courthouses and posted private property can still bar firearms.
