How buying a gun in Cullman works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Alabama law allows.
Alabama has no permit to purchase, no registration and no waiting period. At the dealer you show photo ID, complete ATF Form 4473 and the dealer runs a NICS check. Federal law sets 21 as the minimum age for a handgun from a dealer, and a used trade-in pistol is treated the same as a new one. Alabama's 2023 change to carry law did not add anything to buying. Ask the dealer about the transfer fee before you ship.

Carrying a gun in Cullman County
Since January 1, 2023, Alabama has not required a pistol permit to carry a concealed handgun for adults who may lawfully possess one. The Cullman County Sheriff still issues pistol permits, which help in states that honor them and in some vehicle situations. Sources differ on the minimum age for carry without a permit, and the permit itself needs age 19, so ask the sheriff if you are under 21. Schools, courthouses, police facilities and posted property stay restricted.
