IDPA shooters need a pistol that follows the rulebook and still shoots fast, and the 92X Performance Defensive was built with that sport in mind. It is new, chambered in 9mm, with a 4.9 inch barrel, a 15 round magazine and a gray Nistan finish.

Beretta lists a lightened steel frame and slide, a red-dot optic-ready slide and aggressively textured thin grips for instinctive control. It keeps the same controls and ergonomics as the 92X Performance Production gun, so shooters moving between the two will feel at home.

The pistol is single/double action, with a double-action first pull and a lighter single-action pull afterward. At 2.5 pounds it is a bit lighter than some full-size steel guns, though still heavy enough to settle the sights between shots. Nistan is a durable finish, and it should hold up to holster wear and range use. Look at the product photos to see exactly how the gray looks.

Even if you never shoot a match, the Defensive makes a fine home defense pistol or a range gun for anyone who likes the Beretta layout. Delivery is to a licensed dealer you choose, where you complete the background check and pick up your pistol.
