Night sights and a California-compliant magazine limit make this P229 a good fit for a buyer in that state. It is chambered in 9mm Luger and is new.

The NS in the listing points to night sights, which help you pick up the front post in dim light. The Ergo grip is shaped to fit the hand and gives a secure hold. The Nitron slide resists wear and corrosion, which is helpful for a pistol that goes in a holster every day. Dry fire practice at home, with the pistol unloaded and ammunition in another room, builds a better trigger press. Buy ammunition in the quantity you will shoot in one session, and store the rest somewhere cool and dry.

The P229 has a long record with federal agencies and in civilian carry. It is compact enough to hide and heavy enough to shoot well. The first pull is double action, and then the pistol runs in single action. Learning that change is part of owning one.

Check your own state's roster and rules before you order, since compliance varies. The pistol ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is completed there.
