Smith & Wesson's third generation pistols have a following, and the Model 5906 is one of the best known. It is all stainless steel, chambered in 9mm Luger, with a 4 inch barrel and a 15-round capacity. It is a hammer-fired double-action, single-action design.
Magazines are the big story here. The seller lists eight, with six 15-round magazines, one 17-round magazine and one 10-round magazine. That would cost a lot to buy separately, and the 5906 magazines are no longer as common as they once were. Buy ammunition in the quantity you will shoot in one session, and store the rest somewhere cool and dry. Run the slide by hand when it arrives and make sure it moves cleanly from end to end.
Third generation S&W pistols were widely used by police departments in their day, and many shooters still prefer them for their feel and durability.
If you like older all-metal pistols, the 5906 deserves a look. Compare the photos with the description. It is sold used and as described. It ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is completed there.
