Ruger built the Alaskan for people who walk where the big bears live. It takes the heavy Super Redhawk frame, trims the barrel down to a short, easy-carry length, and chambers it for .44 Magnum. The result is a revolver you can wear in a chest rig all day and still trust when the situation turns serious.

This one is a used example and it comes with its factory box. As a former range officer, I like seeing the original packaging because it usually means the owner kept the gun cared for instead of tossing it in a bag. A short-barrel magnum is loud and lively, so plan on a good set of grips and a few boxes of .44 Special for practice before you move up to full magnum loads.
